NARGE SILVERS ON...
Last summer, Burt "Chubby" MacInnis endured a near-fatal automobile accident. During his months of grueling recovery, the Little Blue Men guitarist began work on a novel. This summer, Merkin Publishing will release the fruits of MacInnis' labour: "90 Minutes in the Queen's Closet." Bandmate and LBM frontman Narge Silvers met with us briefly to offer his two pence on the work.
Silvers said that he was impressed with Burt's positive attitude through his terrible accident, in which he flipped his MG roadster on Germany's Autobahn an astonishing 37 times. "He displayed that stiff upper lip we Brits are known for," Silvers told me. He went on to speak highly of the first draft of "90 Minutes" that he had been given to read.
"I love the way Burt ties together two seemingly disparate topics: his own seminal work, 'Prince in the Closet,' with Don Piper's equally seminal work, '90 Minutes in Heaven.'" Silvers said that MacInnis' novel is "a magical read," and called it "cohesive, thoughtful, and uplifting."
Professional rivalry appears to be a thing of the past, at least for Silvers, who by his own admission has been "feeling sentimental, mellow... even slightly morose." In a word, Narge has been busy "feeling himself."
"Aside from being my best mate and a musical visionary," Silvers said, "it appears Chubby may be in line for a Pulitzer!"
"90 Minutes in the Queen's Closet" is due out 3 June, worldwide.
